BLUE Institute is dedicated to education and research for resilient oceans & water
Ms. Underwood a social entrepreneur, environmentalist, and an educator who is dedicated to supporting sustainable practices for equitable and accessible economic development. She is the Founder and President of the Blue Institute, Inc., a non-profit global hub for education, research, and a Co-Founder of Blue Institute Labs, a Public Benefit Corporation with the program Blue Incubator which is a sister institution for innovation. Both the Blue Institute and the Blue Incubator focus on clean water, healthy oceans and climate change solutions.
Judith has 15+ years of scientific development, and technology transfer work at research and educational institutions including MIT, the United Nations, and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP). She has taught at all levels and to all ages. She serves on the Cape Cod Chamber's Regional Wastewater Taskforce and was a long time board member of the Pleasant Bay Community Boating playing a key role in that organization's efforts in securing a permanent campus. Judith has a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a Master’s from New York University, and has additional graduate environmental studies from Antioch University. Judith is from Harwich Massachusetts on Cape Cod where she is raising her two children, Mary Thomasine (Tommye) and Maximillian, serves her community as a Trustee on the Affordable Housing Trust and a Water Commissioner overseeing the award winning Harwich Water Department.
